Loose Women stars love a captive audience

- By Ed Gleave

LOOSE Women is a hit with Britain’s prisoners.

The daytime show is watched in jails across the country every weekday.

Its panellists had no idea until they went for a night out at The Clink at HMP Brixton, London – and were mobbed.

Jane Moore said: “This restaurant is something really different because the food is cooked and served by the prisoners. A group of us decided to go there for dinner, and as soon as we walked in we

were surrounded.

“They were all saying,

‘We love Loose Women, we’re such big fans’.

There’s no alcohol there.

But they brought us over a special bottle of an apple drink they wanted to treat us to.”

Nadia Sawalha added:

“The prison population accounted for the biggest part of my fan base when I was on EastEnders years ago. I used to get so many letters from people who were inside. My character was a hard nut so that might have been why.”

Jane added: “That’s what you call a captive audience!”

And it’s not just prisoners who think it’s must-see TV.

Presenter Andrea McLean said: “A lot of students watch the show, and actually a lot of our viewers are men.”
