Robbie’s fears for ‘Wag war’
SINGER Robbie Williams has warned that the Wag war between Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy could be “suicide-causing”.
The former Take That star said he understood Coleen’s desire to seek revenge after stories about her were leaked to the press but added that “provoking shame” was “a dangerous game to play.”
Coleen, 33, was nicknamed “Wagatha Christie” last month after planting fake stories on her private Instagram account and then accusing Rebekah, 37, of passing them on to a newspaper.
Williams, 45, admitted in the past he had done the same, planting stories to test the loyalty of his friends.
But the Angels singer, who has banned himself from using social media because it turns him into “a self-lacerating hate machine”, has warned
Coleen that shaming her rival Wag was “a dramatic over-correction.”
In an interview with The Telegraph
Magazine, he said:
“Let’s say Rebekah was guilty – which we don’t know.
“How she will feel inside right now is 10 times worse than how Coleen would have felt when those things were happening to her.
“It’s a dangerous game to play.” He urged people to “be careful”, as once something is posted online it is out of your control and becomes a “monster”.
He added: “It’s suicide-causing – provoking those levels of shame.” Coleen has not discussed the scandal since “outing” Rebekah last month and her rival has flatly denied being the culprit.
Stoke-born Williams also revealed that he gets angry when people say negative things about him and is plagued by self-hatred but he praised his American wife Ayda Field, 40, for being his “cheerleader”.
He lives with the actress in Los Angeles but is back in the UK to promote the RSC’S musical adaptation of David Walliams’s book The Boy in the Dress, for which he provided the music, as well as his double album The Christmas Present.
