Readers deliver a cash boost for heroic Anna

DONATIONS to help “determined” little Anna Drysdale get life-saving cancer treatment have doubled following a Sunday Express campaign with even a singing star helping out.

Anna needs £460,000 to get to New York to stop her rare cancer returning, which doctors say is inevitable without the costly treatment.

Anna, eight, who has fought bone cancer twice since the age of five, is in a race to have the innovative immunother­apy treatment. It has a high chance of stopping the aggressive illness ever returning, which doctors say could happen any time.

Last week the Sunday Express launched a fight to try and get the brave youngster there for Christmas.

Family and friends had managed to raise £50,000 but generous readers sent the total soaring to £106,000.

But more still needs to be done. Mother Keeley said: “We got a massive £20,000 on the day the article came out and it has blown us away. As each day passed the amount rose and rose – we are incredibly grateful to everyone.

“We now just want it to carry on going so we can get Anna there. It really would be the most amazing Christmas present, but we know we have a way to go yet. We can’t give up.”

The family from Chipping Norton, Oxfordshir­e, were also interviewe­d on Sky News @Breakfast by Kay Burley on Tuesday.

And now singing sensation Jack Savoretti has vowed to help in any way he can.

Jack, 36, the What More Can I Do?’ hitmaker, has been in touch with the family to offer his help.
