Carrick: No fear of chop for Ole
MICHAEL CARRICK insists
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer isn’t worried by speculation that Mauricio Pochettino is being lined up to manage Manchester United.
The Argentinian has long been linked with the Old Trafford hot seat. And after being sacked by Tottenham the rumour mill is in overdrive.
But United first team coach Carrick reckons it is just “noise”, and both he and Solskjaer (top) are oblivious to the speculation.
He said: “That is just the way it goes. It is not something you even contemplate at all.
“As a coach or player at United, you can’t be swayed by what is said outside. We are professional, focused and believing in what we are doing. It’s not an issue.”
League places. Solskjaer could now remain in charge at Old Trafford until Pochettino’s clause expires, freeing him to take another Premier League job without the financial penalty.
The clause could open the door for Bayern Munich, who are seeking a new head coach, or Real Madrid if they sack boss Zinedine Zidane (above).
When approached for a comment, a Spurs spokesman said: “We wouldn’t disclose information on contracts.”
