Fiona: Brendan getting axed from Strictly was karma

- By Ed Gleave

FIONA PHILLIPS says it was “karma” when Brendan Cole was axed as a Strictly dancer.

The pair clashed when they were partnered on the show back in 2005 and are still not on good terms.

The former GMTV host, 59, revealed she did not like Brendan’s behaviour behind the scenes.

And she admitted she now regrets taking part in the show.

She said: “Brendan was a real pain, actually. He wasn’t very nice. He was really naughty.

“He’s not on the show now – karma indeed. It works its way every time.”

Pro-dancer Brendan, 43, was dropped from Strictly in 2018 after reportedly clashing with bosses.

It is also rumoured he did not get on with other celebrity partners, including Lulu, 71.

Brendan and Fiona failed to impress the judges during their short stint on Strictly. Their average score was a dismal 15 out of 40.

Mother-of-two Fiona said: “I was really rubbish. I shouldn’t have done it. I had two small kids, I was doing breakfasttv and both my parents had Alzheimer’s. I just took on too much.”

Fiona has ruled out doing more realitytv despite regularly getting big money offers.

She said: “I’m asked to do I’m A Celebrity every year, but I don’t want to do that stuff. I think dignity is an important thing.”

Since leaving GMTV a decade ago Fiona has fronted documentaries on topics including budget airlines, pensions and health.

She said: “I like doing shows that hopefully move things forward or bring things to people’s attention.”
