Meghan makes it to 90210...but it’s not quite Beverly Hills!
MEGHAN and Harry’s new home in the well-heeled 90210 postcode, is a dream come true for the former actress – but it’s not actually in the exclusive city of Beverly Hills.
As an aspiring actress in 2008, she starred in two episodes of the rebooted TV show 90210.
Living in the well-heeled area of Los Angeles would have seemed like an impossible dream to her at the time.
But some locals have sniped that their Tuscan-style villa is actually in Los Angeles and not Beverly Hills. One explained: “It’s in an area called Beverly Hills Post Office which means, despite the name, it’s outside the Beverly Hills city limits.
“They’re in LA and in an area where status really counts.”
Meghan, 38, may have been a TV rather than a Hollywood star but marrying into British royalty means the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s £14.5million mansion is already under siege from photographers. It is also being “buzzed” by helicopters carrying TV crews plus spy drones with cameras.
A security guard, at the gated luxury estate, told the Sunday Express: “We’re telling them to move on and warning them about breaking any laws...but they just keep coming.
“There’s usually a fair amount of air traffic but over the past day or so, three or four have hovered low, obviously snooping around. I’ve also seen several drones and one owner has been warned he’s breaking state privacy laws.”
The house is also set to be a tourist attraction when lockdown lifts. Two rival Hollywood companies are planning to add the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s new address to their bus tours of celebrity homes, we can exclusively reveal.
A source at one of the firms said: “We heard Starline Tours were doing the same and I think the others will follow suit when some sort of summer tourist season eventually gets under way. If things were normal, we’d be filling buses with customers right now. Prince Harry and Meghan? Are you kidding? Theirs is going to be the stop where everyone is craning their necks for a sighting.”
One Beverly Hills personal assistant to a senior studio production executive said these tours can be a “nightmare” during peak season, with three or four buses an hour stopping outside the estate.
She added: “It feels intrusive and a little creepy. Some of the stalkers who have been arrested have admitted they ‘cased’ stars’ homes from the tops of just such tour buses. I think Harry and
Meghan will be horrified.” The Sussexes had clearly hoped to remain under the radar at their new home, after flying in from Canada on a private jet owned by movie mogul Tyler Perry.
Perry, once ranked the highest-paid man in entertainment, also owns the eight-bedroom Tuscan style hilltop villa, where Harry and Meghan last week held a low-key first birthday celebration for their son Archie.
Former Suits actress Meghan is said to be delighted to be living near several of her closest friends, including tennis star Serena Williams.
New neighbours include pop star Christina Aguilera, the world’s highest-paid model Kendall Jenner and music mogul DJ Khaled.
