Dad didn’t kill Natalie Wood ...my mother
THE DAUGHTER of Hollywood legend Natalie Wood wants police to finally close the file on her mother’s mysterious drowning death.
Natasha Gregson Wagner, 49, is also pleading for an end to persistent accusations that her stepfather – Hart To Hart actor Robertwagner – ignored Natalie’s cries for help after she either fell or was pushed off their yacht.
Natasha, who has written a book about the incident called More Than Love, said: “The circumstances will never be clearly established because she was alone when she died.
“As certain as I am that the Earth is round, he would never have harmed my mother or failed to save her if he knew she was in danger.
“I have lived with the confusion and controversy of the night my mother died for most of my life.
I’ve had to make my peace with not knowing. I wish others could do the same.”
Natasha was just 11 when her mother – star of movie classics such as West Side Story – drowned off California’s Catalina Island.
She had been on a 1981 pleasure cruise with Wagner, her third husband, and Christopher Walken, co-star of her final film, Brainstorm.
Her death was officially recorded as an “accident” but two years ago detectives reopened the case and named Wagner, now 90, a “person of interest”. It followed a string of revelations by boat skipper Dennis Davern.
He now claims to have lied to police and alleges she ended up overboard after a furious row over her “flirting” with Walken.
