‘Harry’s father figure didn’t even raise us’
The daughters of mogul linked to Royals speak out
PRINCE Harry’s new father figure David Foster’s real-life daughters have told of the anguish of watching their dad bring up other people’s children.
Five-times-wed music tycoon Foster, 70, has reportedly become close to Harry in Beverly Hills because of his wife Katharine Mcphee’s friendship with Meghan.
The American Idol singer said of her husband and Harry last week: “They’re so cute.they’re like father and son.”
But Foster has five biological children of his own, the youngest of whom – Allison – was said to have been put up for adoption and had no contact with her hugely successful father for 30 years.
He also acquired a brood of stepchildren, including Brody and Brandon Jenner, the biological sons of Caitlyn Jenner from when he was living as a man and was married to Foster’s third wife Linda Thompson.
But two of his biological daughters, Sara and Erin Foster, whose actress mother Rebecca Dyer split from Foster in 1986, have told of the pain of watching him bring up other people’s children while they lived with their mother.
Sara, who created TV series Barely Famous, told podcast Sibling Rivalry: “Our dad was raising other children. He wasn’t raising us. He was raising Brandon and Brody.”
She added: “So, for Erin, what weighed so heavily on her, was me. I was dealing with my whole own emotional turmoil, which was watching my father raise other children.that kept me up at night.”
Writer Erin said: “They had a very different life. But, out in the world, people would be like, ‘You guys are spoilt brats, you have it all’.
“And we would be like, ‘Yeah, but we don’t live there. We don’t have the gate code. We don’t have a room there. We’re not really a part of that world’.”
The sisters also admitted they still have a “deep” resentment over being left behind for their TV star step-brothers.
Tycoon Foster helped mastermind the careers of artists such as Christina Aguilera, Mary J Blige and Michael Bublé. Wife Katharine, 36, attended the same school in Los Angeles as Meghan and they were in plays together.
Foster is said to have helped the royal couple find the compound in Vancouver Island when they relocated to Canada.
Katharine has said: “David is the resource guy. He loves to help people... and Meghan and I knew each other from childhood.”
