Russian spy Anna ‘mixed in high society’

- By Will Stewart

GLAMOROUS Russian sleeper agent Anna Chapman has broken her silence to boast how she infiltrated British high society at the height of her spying days.

Ten years ago this month Chapman, who was born in Volgograd, was detained in Newyork as part of an elaborate espionage network run from Moscow.

Since returning to Moscow in a spy exchange that brought EX-GRU double agent Sergei Skripal to Britain she has become a self-made millionaire but has refused to speak in detail of the wealthy and powerful men she cultivated in London.

But now, in a social media post to promote her latest role as an internet life coach, Chapman, 38, has told how she went from knowing just one British person – her public school-educated husband Alex, who died aged 36 in 2015 – to penetrating London’s most fashionable circles.

They met at a rave party in London’s Docklands and married in 2002. She said: “I had no acquaintances in the city except for my husband,” adding she was only 20 and “fearless”. “When we had arguments, I slept on a bench in the street.” A year later, after they separated and she had got her UK passport, she was “already living in London’s most expensive district in a house with white columns”.

Infiltrating high society, said she was soon “selling private jets and “dining in the most fashionable and private clubs”.

She added: “English Lords and Arab sheikhs were kissing my hand flirtatiously, promising me a bright future and offering to pay for my studies in Harvard.” Chapman became a national celebrity after being shipped back to Russia by the FBI.
