At last we really will take back control

-

WHILE Brexit officially happened on January 31 the country has yet to see the benefits of that historic vote to leave more than four years ago.

So the announcement today on toughening up UK borders is a very welcome first step to vindicate those more than 17 million Leave voters who believed in Britain and the message to “take back control”.

With immigration controls also being unveiled this week, it is a good time for Brexiteers but even more importantly, puts the EU in its place.

For far too long Michel Barnier, Donald

Tusk and others were allowed to mock our democracy and try to humiliate Britain for having the temerity to decide to go its own way.

We have to remember that had Brussels not been so arrogant in 2016 and had agreed to suspend free movement to the UK, then the vote would probably have been Remain by a narrow majority.

Now, with new border posts, guards and technology, Britain can finally have control over its destiny and who comes into the country. Four years on from the referendum, this cannot come quickly enough.
