-

A BRAVE police officer was stabbed after chasing a man.

The suspect was followed after reports of him being in possession of a knife.

He tried to flee as he stabbed one of the officers in Hendon, north-west London, on Friday afternoon.

The man was then tasered and arrested on suspicion of an assault causing grievous bodily harm.

The officer was taken to hospital for treatment and his condition described as “not life-threatening”.

Metropolitan Police area commander Roy Smith said: “Knowing that there were reports of a man in possession of a knife, this police constable and his colleagues ran to challenge and apprehend him – these are truly brave actions.

“I have visited the injured officer in hospital and thankfully he should make a full recovery from his injury.”

Comet Neowise, named after the space telescope that first spotted it in March, has been delighting skygazers around the world.
The comet is currently millions of miles from Earth and during its closest approach on July 23 will still be 64 million miles off – or about 400 times further away than the Moon.
Nasa said the comet was “putting on a spectacular night-time display”.
It added: “It made its once-in-our-lifetimes close approach to the Sun on July 3, 2020, and will cross outside Earth’s orbit on its way back to the outer parts of the solar system by mid-august.”
Made of gas, dust, ice and rock, comets tend to come from the furthest regions of our solar system and move in long orbits.
