Time for Remainers to accept the reality
THIS newspaper is no fan of the Putin regime in Russia, nor are any right thinking individuals in this country.we saw with the attacks on the Skripals in Salisbury, and before that Alexander Litvinenko in London, that this is a dangerous and unsavoury regime.
We also have little doubt that there have been attempts to influence democracies including Britain and others through manufacturing fake news and other means.
But while it is important to look at the perils posed by this rogue, state what is of equal concern is the way that some Remainers have consistently tried to twist the issue as a means to try to sabotage Brexit with false allegations.
So while we support the Intelligence and Security Committee doing a detailed inquiry into Russian influence, we hope that this is not another platform to repeat the already discredited allegations that the vote for Brexit was somehow the result of a Russian plot.
Various investigations have already proved that this and other allegations were fake. But it has not stopped Remainers using official institutions – including, allegedly, the Electoral Commission – to propagate this message and bully Leave supporters.
It needs to be said loud and clear that the vote to leave the EU was an expression of the free, democratic will of the British people to end the control of this country by an unelected bureaucracy.
Every time it has been tested in a referendum or election the pro-brexit side has won.that is not a Russian plot, it is democracy.and bitter Remainers need to acknowledge that they have lost the argument not pretend they were cheated.
