Biden heads for Cornwall G7
JOE BIDEN will make his first presidential visit to the UK this summer when world leaders gather in Cornwall for a G7 summit.
Heads of the most powerful nations will meet in the coastal town of Carbis Bay, near St Ives, from June 11-13.
Boris Johnson is leading the summit and will use the event to push for critical improvements in pandemic preparedness.
Mr Johnson said: “As the most prominent grouping of democratic countries, the G7 has long been the catalyst for decisive international action to tackle the greatest challenges we face.
“Coronavirus is doubtless the most destructive force we have seen for generations and the greatest test of the modern world order we have experienced. It is only right that we approach the challenge of building back better by uniting with a spirit of openness.”
He added: “I’m very much looking forward to welcoming world leaders to this great region.”
The other G7 countries are Canada, France,
Germany, Italy and Japan.
