SALAH ‘TOO OLD’ FOR BIG MOVE
MISSED CHANCE: Mo Salah
JAMIE CARRAGHER has told Mo Salah that he is too old to seal a dream move to Spain.
The Egyptian forward,
28, caused a panic around Anfield last month when he suggested he was open to joining Real Madrid or Barcelona after being overlooked as captain.
But while Carragher understands Salah’s desire to test himself in La Liga, he believes cash-strapped Real and Barca would rather set their sights on Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland – or even Salah’s 28-year-old Kop strike partner Sadio Mane if they had the money.
Carragher said: “I wouldn’t be surprised if a few years ago, when Mo Salah was mapping his career out, that is something he would liked to have done. But I think the situation now – financially and his age – means clubs don’t have that kind of money.
“You are talking in excess of £100million. So I’m not fearful as a Liverpool fan he is going to leave any time soon.”
