Strachan: United have ideal blend

GORDON STRACHAN believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has proven he is made of the right stuff to deliver success for Manchester United.

As well as showing the mental strength to overcome the critics, the former Old Trafford star believes the United boss is building a side with the perfect blend of strength and talent.

United visit Anfield today looking to stretch their lead at the top of the table and Strachan is adamant there is more to come from

Solskjaer.

He said:

“His mental strength is fantastic.

“He’s faced problems and dealt with them.

“And because of the results they’ve been getting recently, the players are beginning to believe in themselves more. That’s down to the manager. He’s done a smashing job because a year ago people thought that he would be gone.”

Strachan also praised Solskjaer for building a side with backbone.

“They have put together probably the most powerful Man United team I’ve seen for years,” he said.

And he believes Solskjaer has also been shrewd with his signings – none more so than Bruno Fernandes (left). “He surprises you, he’s always thinking ahead and sees things others don’t,” added the former Old Trafford idol.

“He’s the one leading from the front and setting the tempo.”
