Cher to turn back time with new tour

- By Julia Kuttner

SHE might be reaching 75 in May but Cher is still planning to tour again as soon as music venues reopen worldwide.

The Oscar-winning actress and Grammy award-winning singer revealed in a new US interview that she wants to resume live concerts when the pandemic finally recedes.

And she reckons she is already in tip-top condition, bragging: “There are 20-year-olds who can’t do what I can.” She added that she still works out five days a week with a personal trainer.

And Cher declared she still gets “a thrill” from performing, saying: “I just love standing on stage and singing.

“Once I’m on stage and get hold of an audience, I know I can still bring the room together as one. If you have a heartbreak or a sickness, for 90 minutes I can make you forget.”

The twice-married mother-of-two said she now spends most of her spare time with her mother, ex-singer Georgia Holt, 94.

DANCING On Ice comedian Matt Richardson fears it could be next year before he returns to doing stand-up because people will be too scared to attend packed venues.

Matt, 29, who was booted off the ITV show after just one week, was doing gigs five nights a week before the pandemic.

But now he has no work and said the time has been “stressful and terrifying”. He worries that the impact on the arts will last another five years.

The comic revealed some fellow comedians are working in supermarkets to pay the bills. And he has recently considered taking a job Covid testing at Stansted Airport. “Being freelance is stressful and terrifying but you choose that reality. However, a steady staff job looks appealing right now.”

He stepped in to Dancing On Ice last week when Rufus Hound dropped out after testing positive for Covid-19.

Matt told how his stint on the series had brought in some much-needed cash as his girlfriend, Sam Rollinson, had been paying their bills.

DETECTIVES have launched a new appeal for information a week on from the murder of an aspiring lawyer.

Sven Badzak, 22, was stabbed to death in Kilburn, north-west London, last Saturday at 5.30pm. He was attacked by six youths as he went to a shop with a friend.

Detective Chief Inspector Markwrigley said: “Sven’s life was taken from him in a completely unprovoked attack.”

Two men, aged 19 and 17, arrested on suspicion of murder, have been released on bail.
