FOXES FUEL KOP CRISIS

-

JURGEN KLOPP was left griping overvar but more worrying for him must be his defence – Liverpool’s Achilles’ heel that was laid horribly bare by Leicester. Poor decision-making by keeper Alisson allowed Manchester City to pull clear of the Kop club last week and it was followed up by more of the same here, as the once resolute defensive platform for last year’s title triumph showed signs of collapsing.

After Mo Salah’s delightful strike, set up by Roberto Firmino on 67 minutes, put Liverpool ahead they were shattered by three goals in eight minutes.

A free-kick by James Maddison (below) put the Foxes level after a lengthy VAR debate.

Then Alisson charged from goal and collided with new boy Ozan Kabak, allowing Jamie Vardy to walk the ball into an empty net. Harvey Barnes added a third moments later.

Klopp said: “It’s not easy to dominate Leicester the way we did, to play the kind of football we did, we scored the first, it was a great goal.

“We conceded a strange one – I think it’s offside.accepting that with a smile is not easy.ali was

100 per cent sure it was offside. So, that moment’s gone with a tough decision.the next is a misunderstanding.”

Klopp was rightly most miffed about his side being “too open” but both teams had seen chances hit the crossbar, although

Leicester keeper Kasper Schmeichel was the busier before Salah hit the opener.

It was Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers’ first win over his former club. He said: “We had to be aggressive against a top team.

“When we had the free-kick for the equaliser my emotions were all over the place.we were back in it.

“In the end it was a fantastic win and I think we deserved it.”
