Oduba: I feel ‘super human’ after SAS TV challenge
HE DAZZLED Strictly fans and danced his way to glitterball glory. But tonight Ore Oduba can be seen attempting a very different challenge.
And he says his stint on Celebrity SAS:WHO Dareswins pushed him to the limit – physically and mentally.
The 2016 Strictly winner has told how he was left with PTSD and suffered a terrifying “out of body experience” following the Channel 4 series, which reaches its finale tonight.
Ore, 35, says he was on the verge of pneumonia during one gruelling physical trial and admits doing the show was a “profoundly life-altering experience” that left him feeling “super human”.
But thetv presenter, who has starred in musical theatre following Strictly, said the show changed his life for the better.
He revealed: “I definitely had the early triggers of PTSD.THE psychologists prepared us before, during and after, that this could be something that would happen when your body goes through a trauma physically and mentally.trying to get yourself back into civilian life is going to take time. I remember doing a home workout. It felt like somebody was there beasting me.”
However, he said he now has greater respect for military veterans who have experienced the horrors of war.
He revealed there were real low points in the series, including falling unconscious in a river and being gassed and interrogated.
On the differences between Strictly and Celebrity SAS, Ore said: “This has been a profoundly life-altering experience.
“If you are out of your comfort zone, it’s important that you find yourself comfortable with being uncomfortable. Knowing that you have the tools to deal with it, that makes you feel super human.”
