ADAMS DREAM IN RANGE NOW

Tomorrow, 7.45pm

- REPORTING

CHE ADAMS sent the travelling Tartan Army home happy from Moldova. Now the Scotland striker is determined to provide them with more special memories as he looks to lead them on a Middle Eastern adventure.

It was Adams’ strike which sealed Friday’s 2-0 win in Chisinau and booked aworld Cup play-off spot for Steve Clarke’s side ahead of the final qualifier against group winners Denmark.

The Southampton ace could have had a hat-trick had it not been forvar’s eager eye spotting a couple of marginal offside calls.

But he was more than satisfied with the one which moves the

Scots to within two games of next year’s finals in Qatar.

Adams’ efforts were certainly appreciated by the 1,000-strong contingent of travelling fans, who were still singing his name long after the final whistle had blown.

It’s been an incredible first year in a Scotland jersey since Adams, 25, nailed his colours to the tartan mast.and having chalked up an appearance at the Euros this year, he’s desperate for another taste of major tournament action.

“It was a big win, we needed it,” said Adams. “The offside goals were the only negative, I think.

“Listen, I’m happy with the three points so to chip in with my bit is always nice. It’s been an amazing journey with a bunch of amazing, hard-working lads. I’ve enjoyed every single minute of it.

“The fans were amazing.to go all the way to Moldova to support us was unreal. But we got the three points and did it for them.

“There’s a strong connection between the fans and the players. It just makes you feel welcomed and appreciated.”

The feelgood factor is sweeping through the squad after Clarke’s team registered five straight wins to rescue a qualifying campaign that looked perilously close to collapse.

But Scotland are marching on with a confident stride and Adams insists that is all down to the boss. He said: “Everyone in this group works so hard for each other. Credit to the gaffer for making an environment where that spirit and desire to do more for each other is clear.

“That’s what the gaffer has always touched on – just to believe in ourselves because we’re good players.”

Clarke insists there will be no Hampden Park party tomorrow, with more hard work ahead.

“We are not going to celebrate getting to a play-off,” he said. “It is a measure of the improvement in the team and the squad.

“We want to go to Qatar. We will save the celebrations for March hopefully. It will be a full house at Hampden.we want to finish the campaign well.

“It’s not job done – job done is to qualify for Qatar.we probably need something from the game on Monday to be seeded.”
