Mr Reynolds invited more than 100 Downing St employees to a gathering and asked them to “bring your own booze”.

According to reports, Mr Johnson gave a speech for Lee Cain, his departing communications director.

A Treasury spokesperson told The Times a number of staff had come into the office to work on the Spending Review with drinks afterwards.

There were reports the PM gave a farewell speech for Cleo Watson, a senior Downing St aide and ally of Mr Cummings.

Reports that former education secretary Gavin Williamson threw a party in his department’s Whitehall HQ.

According to reports, the purchase was necessary for “wine-time Fridays” held through lockdown, with the PM allegedly encouraging them to help aides “let off steam”.

Shaun Bailey apologised “unreservedly” for attending the gathering at Conservative Campaign Headquarters organised by staff on his team.

Kate Josephs, former director general of the Government’s Covid Taskforce, said she was “truly sorry” over an evening gathering in the Cabinet Office for her leaving drinks.

Officials and advisers reportedly made speeches, drank and exchanged Secret Santa gifts at a Downing St bash. Mr Johnson’s spokeswoman Allegra Stratton quit after being filmed joking about it.
