German wine has had a bad press but Iris Ellmann is on a mission to change that. She founded The Wine Barn in Winchester, Hampshire, which deals solely with German vineyards and producers and supplies many top restaurants, sommeliers and chefs, including Heston Blumenthal and Gordon Ramsay. Now, because of lockdown, The Wine Barn is opening up to the public, too. We sampled a dry riesling and a dry rosé as well as a sekt (German sparkling wine).
