Pardew is full of warmth for rival

- By Niall Hickman

ALAN PARDEW and Neil Warnock meet again today, having clashed a few times in the dug-out over the years. But the Newcastle boss says Crystal Palace have made an excellent decision to appoint the Yorkshireman.

“Neil has the experience to deal with the fact that they need to stay in the Premier League and to grow as a club,” said Pardew.

“It is such an advantage to be in the Premier League. With the money, you need to stay in it. They will invest and that is going to make a difference.”

Pardew has so far managed to avoid any repeat of last season’s headbutt on Hull midfielder David Meyler.

“I’m a changed man,” said Pardew. “Neil gets emotional, but I’ve never really had a problem with him.

“I limit my time on the sidelines now because I am passionate and I want to win the game. I’m not going to change that, but I will try to keep it under wraps.”
