Team GB get ready to party

-

AS the world prepares to wave goodbye to the Olympics in Rio today, British athletes were already celebrating a record-breaking “away games” result, which saw them in third place in the medals table.

Yesterday, Liam Heath took Britain’s 25th gold for the 200m kayak sprint and Nicola Adams won the women’s 51kg final to take the gold medal count to 26. She is the first British boxer to retain an Olympic title for 92 years.

Vicky Holland outsprinted best friend and housemate Non Stanford to win the team’s 15th bronze in the triathlon and became the first British woman to win a medal in the event.

With one day remaining team GB has already secured 22 silver medals taking its medal total to 63, just two shy of its London 2012 total.
