GLASGOW Rocks moved up to fourth in the British Basketball League with an 84-69 win at struggling Surrey Scorchers. The hosts used a 13-0 burst to pull 41-37 clear at half time but the Scots quickly wiped out the deficit with nine unanswered points at the start of the third quarter.

With Kieron Achara and Hayden Lescault scoring 18 points apiece, Glasgow pulled away to secure a second victory inside 24 hours to stay in touch with the early pacesetters.

Meanwhile, Caledonia Pride crashed out of the WBBL Cup in the first round with a 69-48 loss at Manchester Mystics.

The Scots unveiled new signing Tricia Oakes with the American centre, who played last season at Swedish side Visby, scoring 10 points. But despite a late rally, Bart Sengers’ side never recovered after Manchester pulled away with a 12-2 run in the second quarter with GB guard Georgia Jones notching 16 points.
