Name’s Burnes – Alex Burnes
I WAS interested in your piece on Sir Alexander Burnes (Wild life of Burns’ swashbuckling relative uncovered, News, September 11). My novel on Burnes – Secret Survivor Of Cabool – combines pre-1841 fact with a fictional tale set within the rest of Victoria’s reign. My research uncovered conflicting accounts of how or where he died. So there was a good case for Burnes to become an undercover spy for British intelligence. With imagination, I offer a Burnes who worked in the whole Victorian era, and with secret intelligence from London and around the world.
