Amber I’ll sue over slurs by Depp pal
Johnny Depp’s estranged wife Amber Heard is suing one of his friends for branding her a lying blackmailer.
She has filed court papers demanding damages from comic Doug Stanhope.
Actress Amber, 30, is divorcing Johnny, 52, after accusing him of hitting, kicking and throwing objects at her for years.
Doug wrote an article published onl ine that claimed she invented the claims of domestic violence to blackmail Johnny into giving her what she wanted in the divorce.
He claimed: “She was threatening to lie about him publicly in every possible way if he didn’t agree to her terms. He got used, manipulated and set up by her.”
Amber’ s lawyers say Doug’s claims are “completely false and highly defamatory” and have caused her “tremendous harm”.
They accuse Doug and 20 other unnamed defendants of a classic case of attacking the victim, and “a calculated campaign to smear her for having the temerity to file for divorce”.
Amber is demanding the maximum possible damages and says she will donate the cash to a domestic violence shelter.
She accuses Johnny of being “an alcoholic and drug addict” who assaulted her numerous times. Johnny’s lawyers say she is trying to “secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse”.
