Maximum effort from Faithless at their last T

-

Faithless rapper Maxi Jazz last night confessed his legendary band’s show at T tonight will probably be their last time at the fest.

The frontman showed up a day early to play T with his new band Maxi Jazz and the E-Type Boys – because he only agreed to the Faithless show if he could play twice.

Maxi said: “I don’t think it’s been done before as a frontman, playing the festival with two bands.

“The reason I agreed to the Faithless shows is they invited me to bring my band along, too. We’re working on albums so didn’t want to take months off for a tour.

“It’s a double shift but getting the boys in front of audiences they wouldn’t normally be in front of makes it a good thing, a real leg up.

“With Faithless, we have been shocked and surprised at the level of love that’s still out there for the band.

“So to come back to T in the Park possibly for the last time as Faithless is always going to be special.”

Maxi was delighted with the E-Type Boys’ T debut and looked forward to a very different show tonight with his old pals Sister Bliss and Rollo.

He said: “It’s great to be playing twice and two very different experiences.

“Faithless you have tens of thousands of people who love you to bits, can’t wait to see you and go bananas.

“The E-Type Boys show was in the T Break tent, like a little club show with a few hundred people, two thirds of whom have no clue who you are.

“I love that, the feeling of starting something new again, it reminds me of the early days of Faithless, that uncertainty and adrenaline.”

While Maxi clearly loves his original band, his priority is his new one, and after their performance yesterday it’s easy to understand why.

He said: “It’s more fun performing songs we wrote a few weeks ago than ones from 20 years ago.

“We have an album out this month and most of the next one done.

“I’d love to be back at T with the E-Type Boys. T is truly special because of the people, they are what makes a festival. When they love you at T, they really love you and make sure you know it.”
