Harry leads Limato to first Group 1 win in style
said: “He’s exciting isn’t he? That was amazing. The first thing Harry said when he got back was ‘I can’t wait to ride him again’.
“He’s in the Sussex Stakes and I wouldn’t rule that out totally. I thought he ran a cracking race in the Lockinge and I thought he stayed a mile that day.”
William Hill quickly cut Limato to 6-1 from 10s for the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood in three weeks.
Educate (18-1) made it fourth time lucky in the John Smith’s Cup at York.
Ismai l Mohammed’s seven-year- old was sent into the lead a furlong out by Thomas Brown and showed a willing attitude close home to thwart the late challenge of Elbereth (16-1) by half- a- length. Brown said: “That was great for the horse. For him to win this race at the age of seven off a mark of 108 is fantastic. We knew we had him in good form and I had a lovely position throughout. He travelled really well and stuck his neck out to the line.”
Jockey Dane O’Neil l enjoyed his biggest success since returning from injury on Mutakayyef (7-2 Fav) in the Summer Mile at Ascot. There were plenty in with chances close home but William Haggas’ horse showed a nifty turn of foot to see off Dutch Connection (5-1) and Gabrial (25-1) by two lengths.
Mutakayyef was cut to 14-1 from 20s by Ladbrokes for the International at York next month.
