I’ll be primed to make a racquet on opening day

-

I’ ll be rooting for Andy Murray to win the Wimbledon Final for Scotland again today.

And with Andy in action, it’s natural I’ve been playing tennis all week too.

My wife Brittany has been taking lessons the last few months and she’s got really good.

There’s a few courts nearby so we’ve been playing a lot of doubles. It ’ s usually my wife and her friend against me and her fr i e n d ’s husband.

Brittany hasn’t won a match against me yet and I can’t let her win – we’re both too competitive.

I had a normal week until a copperhead snake was found in our front garden. It was a little one but they are poisonous. I was out in the dark with my flashlight, shovel and shotgun looking for it.

I don’t know where it went – it’s still out there.

However, the big disappointment was seeing Germany go out of the Euros.

Now I’m faced with a Final that puts together two of the teams I dislike the most.

My main problem with the Portugal team is Cristiano Ronaldo.

He’s a great player but he loves himself a bit much. He’s not a humble team-mate.

And I always find the France team are whining to the referee.

My prediction is that Portugal will win – they have some good young players. It’s more a hunch than anything else but I like going for the upset and Portugal are underdogs.

I have been k ick ing a li t t le bit again as well.

I kicked 40 balls at the stadium early last week and hit 37 of them, missing three that were more than 50 yards out.

But the winds were more than 20mph so that’s not too bad for practice.

I’ve been working out a lot in the gym in my house too and it’s making a difference.

I’m ready to push things up a gear and know I’m in shape so it all bodes well for the new NFL season.

It’s not that long now until games start for the Carolina Panthers.

But there’s still a lot of hard work and preparation to go before that happens so we’re all ready and at our very best.
