JOEY WON’T BE PROBLEM

-

Rangers boss Mark Warburton (left) insists new boy Joey Barton is smart enough not to get into any trouble in Glasgow. The Englishan is the highest

profile player to sign since Paul Gascoigne and with 3.2 million Twitter followers, the outspoken star won’t be short of headlines or attention.

Barton has already sparked a war of words with Scott Brown by insisting the Celtic skipper isn’t in the same league.

But Warburton, who is expected to agree his new deal at Rangers this week, doesn’t believe the 32-year- old will get into bother off the pitch.

He said: “I’ve been in the west end of Glasgow and found it to be great. If I want to find trouble in London I know exactly where to go and I’m sure Glasgow is no different.

“Joey’s a very smart guy. I’ve got no problem with him in any of these areas.

“We’ ll sit down and discuss Twitter and the likes but there is not a rule for Joey Barton (right) and a rule for the others.”

Barton is one of eight new arrivals at Ibrox and Warburton has hailed the influence of Rangers’ head of recruitment Frank McParland.

In total, Gers have spent less than £500,000 in fees and the Ibrox boss said: “Frank is one of the very best, if not the best, in the business. He knows the market value.

“It’ s like going to buy a house and they tell you it is worth £1m when you know it’s worth just 600 grand.”
