Rocking start for Mick’s new kid

S i r Mick Jagger conceived his eighth baby on a Rolling Stones tour of Latin America, pals believe.

The y reckon the 72- year- old rock ’ n’ roll legend sneaked on- of f lover Melanie Hamrick, 29, into his hotel suites as the band played Mexico City and Colombian capital Bogota in March.

It emerged last week that New York ballerina Melanie, who is younger than Mick’s four eldest kids, is expecting.

The star’s bandmates have been teasing him about it, but ex-partner Jerry Hall is said to be shocked.

Mick is understood to be pleased, if a little surprised, but has no plans to marry Melanie. A source close to him said: “They have always been casual.”

The insider conf irmed that Melanie joined Mick on the tour, saying: “It was all very hush-hush but she was there, in Bogota and Mexico.

“Mick made sure she was looked after but he wasn’t keen on making a song and dance of it.”

Friends say Mick has promi s ed to suppor t Melanie when the baby arrives. She is happy in New York and has no intention of moving to the UK.

Mick, whose first child Karis was born in 1970, is now a proud grandfathe­r of f ive. The kids cal l him “Pappy” and he enjoys playing hide and seek with them in the garden.

He is also a great-grandfathe­r af ter daughter Jade’s girl Assisi became a mum in 2014. Taking its name from a chamber in the ruins of nearby Yester Castle, the Goblin’ Ha offers a warm welcome.

The bar is part of a family-run hotel and provides friendly, informal service with fresh food made from local produce.

The stylish patio and garden allows customers to make the most of the rural setting while, inside, the cosy pub blends in local history.
