Us to sell Jason

The striker – a £1.5million target for League One Peterborough – racked up his 50th goal for the club with a brilliant double to down Falkirk.

But at 21 he reckons his inability to even boil an egg off the park trumps his belief that he could set fire to English football on it.

Cummings’ goals rocked the Bairns at the beginning of each half and despite a wonder goal from Craig Sibbald to level things before the break, Neil Lennon’s side saw of f their bogey loath to let him go just yet.

“He has been really good to work with. He’s got the rascal about him but it’s part of his makeup.

“He has a long way to go to be at the level we think he can get to but he’s 21.

“He’s a precocious talent and people pay a lot of money for potential. But team of the last two seasons. Cummings said: “There has been a lot of talk but it’s just flattering, it’s not affecting me.

“It doesn’t put pressure on me, it just makes me more confident and helps me play better.

“My mind is clear that my main goal is to help Hibs into the Premiership. I’ve been saying that since we got relegated and I am sticking to my word.

“I want to do everything I can to help that. Teams might come in for me but I don’t think I’m ready to go down south. “I’m young and I love it up in Edinburgh. I’m in a happy place. “As a player I think I could go down there and score goals but I’d say I’m not ready to go down away from the pitch. “I can’t even boil an egg, seriously. “My mum does everything for me and I would be a bit lost without my fami ly and friends. I love Edinburgh, I have never lived on my own and need to get used to that side more before I go.” Keeping h im to that w il l we won’t sell. Then I’ve got to go and start again, right before the window shuts, looking for players to replace him.

“It’s going to cost money so even if we sell him for £5m we’re going to have to spend to replace him, so his actual worth will be less than that.” be the difference for Hibs. After just two wins in 11 against the Bairns in the past two seasons, his 90-second opener set the tone.

Peter Houston raised eyebrows by matching Hibs and going three at the back and their inexperience with the system was instantly exposed, James Keatings exploiting the acres between Luca Gasparotto and wingback Luke Leahy.

Danny Rogers stopped the init ial shot but Cummings was first to the loose ball and slotted into the empty net.

New signing Gasparotto was struggling to contain Cummings, who could easily have had another couple before the break.

But Sibbald – who at just 21 joined Falkirk’s Hal l of Fame before kick-off after passing his 200th game for the club last season – celebrated in style with the leveller.

He took advantage of Paul Hanlon and Liam Fontaine both going for the same ball before lashing a stunning, perfectly- controlled 30-yarder high past Ross Laidlaw to level in just nine minutes.

Sibbald was Falkirk’s main man, orchestrating with all the little touches in the middle of the park but after they’d equalised, they struggled to penetrate.

Hibs were dominating but their final ball was poor.

David Gray put three crosses on the bounce straight out of the park and Lennon was climbing the wal ls watching Keatings dwell on the ball too often.

But again it was the ball over the top that was Falkirk’s undoing.

Les s t han t h ree minutes into the second half Cummings again ran down Gasparotto, got goal side and, despite a hint of handball as he got it down, his finish was emphatic.

This time after taking the lead there was never any danger of Hibees losing it. John McGinn was winning every 50/50 and Cummings was a permanent menace.

And more worryingly for Falkirk, the neversay- die mag ic that epitomised everything they did last season didn’t come. There were chances – Gray cleared one off the line from Bob McHugh, who blazed another over, and Laidlaw did well to stay big and deny sub Lee Miller when clean through.

The result was fair – but they’ll both still be up there at the death.
