£100k Josh bid rejected
Kil lie last night booted out a £100,000 swoop from Charlton for striker Josh Magennis.
They knocked back a £50,000 bid from Oldham last week and have now rejected double that plus add-ons from English League One outfit Charlton for their 25-year-old Northern Ireland international.
Magennis – who could earn £ 3000 a week down south – was left out of yesterday’s Premiership defeat to Motherwell after days of speculation.
However, Killie boss Lee Clark insists he’ll be staying put. He said: “What’s happened is the Oldham bid has flushed a few clubs out.
“We’ve had about three or four different bids and inquiries but only two got anywhere near the figure the club were looking for.
“But we’ve all decided we don’t want to let him go so we’ve turned down the offer from Charlton.
“During the game the board spoke to Josh and he has been very receptive. He says that if we cannot agree a fee with a buying club he is more than happy to come back and give us everything.
“I had two conversations with the lad on Friday and I understood where he was coming from.
“If I’d been a player and it looked like a move was coming, would you be in the right frame of mind to play?
“It ’s terrif ic news that he is going to be part of our plans.”
