Quinn up Fir a reunion

-

Paul Quinn admits it will be a strange feeling trying to get the better of two of his old Fir Park mates after they turned to coaching.

On Saturday the Ross County skipper will take on Richie Foran’s Inverness Caley in the season’s first Highland derby.

And in a few weeks he’ll attempt to get the better of ex-club Well who will have long-time friend James McFadden as their assistant boss.

Quinn – nicknamed Coach and surely destined for a dugout role in the future – said: “It’s exciting for Richie and I’m looking forward to seeing how he and his team do.

“Hopefully we’ll get the right result against them next Saturday, though. I was chuffed when I heard he’d got the job. It’ll be strange going up against him because I was close to him at Motherwell.

“Now I’m looking to get his managerial career on a losing run. I’m sure he’ll do well because he’s focused and determined. Richie’s a big personality. He commands respect and you need that.

On McFadden, he added: “I never thought about Faddy being an assistant manager. But I can see why he’s done it. He’s still learning but he wants to pass on his knowledge.

“Faddy still has that aura about him. He’ll be telling them to make a difference but he’ll probably want a one-man defence!”
