You are my breath, my stallion and you give me the wind Wedding vow

When they first laid eyes on each other, she was dressed as Dragon Queen Daenerys and he instantly promised to be Drogo, her warlord king.

Now fantasy- lov ing couple Simon Redstone and bride Sam have tied the knot in a romantic Game of Thrones-themed twilight ceremony at Gretna Green.

Simon, 26, and Sam, 33, claim it was “love at first sight” when they met at a comic convention – where each was dressed in costume as their favourite fictional characters.

Sam said: “We met through costume roleplay – cosplay – where you choose a character from a game or book and recreate that character. You dress as them.”

Simon said: “When I first saw Sam she was wearing the Daenerys cosplay – it was love at first sight.”

Sam added: “He passed me a note. It said, ‘If you come as Daenerys to the next convention, I’ll be your Drogo’. “That was the beginning.” Willow weaver and wood carver Simon proposed just six months later –and the couple said it was important they planned a cosplay wedding ceremony that was deeply personal to them.

They opted to marry at wedding capital Gretna Green after hearing about the “theatrical side” of many of the 5000 weddings that are carried out in the smal l Scots town every year. Dressed in Game of Thrones-inspired costumes they had made themselves, Simon said in his vows: “For as long as time rides on, you are my Dragon Queen.”

And in her vows, Sam said: “In the beginning there was the sun and his wife, the moon.

“You are my breath, my stallion and you give me the wind.”

Simon arrived at the off icial ceremony at Gretna’s Anvil Hall on horseback.

Pastor Sandy Jamieson even joined in by dressing in a Game of Thrones- style cloak, furry legwarmers and carrying a fake sword.

The couple held a second ceremony around a bonfire close to their wedding reception, which featured a hog roast and was staged in a room decorated with dragons and dragon eggs.

That ceremony was based on Game of Thrones character Daenerys Targaryen’s wedding to her Dothraki warlord husband Khal Drogo.

Sam and Simon, of Alsager, Cheshire, recited some of their vows in the fictional Dothraki language – which they had learned from a DVD.

And the couple said it was important that their obsession with the hit HBO drama – which stars Emilia Clarke as Daenerys and Jason Momoa as Drogo – was reflected in their special day.

Sam, who was heavily pregnant as she walked down the aisle, said: “We put a little bit of it into the ceremony – the dragons, the eggs. That’s an important thing – it shows a side to us.”

Simon added: “That’s what makes it personal to us.”

The couple – who have since celebrated the birth of their baby son – wed in November.

They are one of several couples featured on new Channel 4 series Wedding Town.

The 10-part daytime series aims to take an entertaining look at those who choose to marry at Gretna Green, the wedding capital of Europe.

Historically, young couples f led from England to marry in Scotland, where people under the age of 21 did not need parental permission to wed.

But even though the laws have long since changed, the venue is still the country’s most popular for weddings. Wedding Town starts on Channel 4 tomorrow.
