Linda said: “We have no phone, broadband or TV and are desperate to get the house sorted.”

I got on to Virgin Media. They said: “We apologise. We and our partner have been working with Mrs Lamont to resolve the matter and have paid to rectify the damage. We have also credited her account as a gesture of goodwill.” could take months to resolve.”

I got on to Tesco Bank and pointed out that by law they’re as liable as the retailer.

And the money reappeared in Scott’s account last week.

Tesco said: “We reviewed our files and the customer was entitled to a full refund.” Result.
