Ray McKinnon reckons Tony Andreu will be a revelation for Dundee United after his scoring debut edged them through in extra time.

The ex-Hamilton Accies attacker only arrived at Tannadice on loan from Norwich City on Wednesday.

However, the Frenchman wasted no time in getting off the mark, nodding United into the fourth round with only four minutes left until penalties.

Tangerines boss McKinnon said: “We know he can score goals and he could probably have had two or three.

“He’s going to be a great signing. He was excellent. He’s got great ability and there’s no doubt he’ll sniff out goals.

“I don’t want to show any disrespect because Peterhead came here and scored two goals. But on another day we’d have been a bit more comfortable.

“We kept passing and creating chances and we just need to put more chances away in future.”

Charlie Telfer let fly from 25 yards 59 seconds in but United’s lead failed to last the half hour. Rory McAllister, who signed a new two-year deal last month after attracting interest from the Terrors, slotted the ball past Luis Zwick after Ryan Baptie played him in.

Nick van der Velden fired a low shot home 11 minutes before the break only to concede another 60 seconds later.

Leighton McIntosh went on a mazy run down the right before crossing for McAllister who rose to bullet home.

Simon Murray hit the bar twice inside a six- minute spell after the restart as United had to wait for Andreu to meet Blair Spittal’s cross deep into injury time to seal victory.
