Firm in danger mobiles warning
Owners of Galaxy Note 7 phones have been warned that they could explode.
Manufacturers Samsung yesterday urged customers to stop using the phones or exchange them.
Last week, Samsung recalled 2.5million phones after reports of Galaxy Note 7s exploding during or after charging.
US authorities warned airline passengers not to switch on or charge the phones while on board.
Samsung said they would replace all devices that were handed in from September 19.
A statement from the South Korean firm–the world ’s biggest mobile phone makers – said: “Our customers’ safety is an absolute priority.
“Until a replacement device is provided, Samsung asks all customers with a Galaxy Note 7 smartphone to power down your device and return it to its place of purchase at your earliest opportunity.”
Yesterday, aviation authorities in the United Arab Emirates banned use of the devices on Emirates and Etihad flights.
Singapore Airlines, Qantas and Virgin Australia have already put similar bans in place.
Samsung have said battery problems were behind the phones catching fire but it was difficult to work out which phones were affected.
The Galaxy Note 7 was launched last month to broad ac claim from consumers and critics.
