GERS’ BEGINNERS ARE DAZZLED BY THE NEW BHOYS

-

Moussa Dembele dazzled among the debutants with his stunning, historic hat-trick.

But it was a nightmare for Niko Kranjcar and Joey Barton who failed to match his big talk with a big game performance.

Dembele’s performance reeked of class as he stole the show and set up fellow debutant Scott Sinclair’s strike just after the hour. Former Aston Villa winger Sinclair impressed, swinging in the corner for Dembele to bullet home the opener before his pal returned the favour after the break.

Happy memories too for Kolo Toure and Dorus De Vries – although the former Arsenal central defender and the Dutch goalkeeper were considerably less busy.

De Vries, though, was marooned when Kenny Miller’s fine header looped over him for first-timer Joe Garner to nod home.

Garner and Josh Windass otherwise struggled to impose themselves for Rangers but it was the old guard who really let the side down. Mark Warburton admitted the occasion may have got to Kranjcar and revealed he hooked the midfielder at half-time before he got himself sent off.

And Philippe Senderos, turned inside out by Dembele as he tucked away his second goal, stupidly got himself sent off for a ludicrous handball 15 minutes from time.

Barton? The bookies’ favourite to be sent off kept his head, filled in at centrehalf after Senderos’ red card and at least had the class to seek out Scott Brown and shake the hand of the man he’d bad-mouthed on his arrival in Glasgow.
