Man by Man

- Euan McLean’s

DORUS DE VRIES

Totally caught out by Rangers goal, albeit a terrific header by Miller, but wasn’t tested nearly enough by Gers to make a serious judgment about his credentials in comparison to Craig Gordon.

MIKAEL LUSTIG

Cleverly picked out Dembele to give the striker his hat-trick and kept McKay in his back pocket for most of the day. Assured display.

ERIK SVIATCHENKO

Accused of stamping by Garner but on the whole a cool, calm and collected display from the big defender.

KOLO TOURE

Showed every ounce of the big-game experience the former Arsenal man possesses. Didn’t give Garner much joy all day. Booked.

KIERAN TIERNEY

Kept his discipline to focus on defensive duties and did so well to nullify threat of Tavernier. Not his usual dynamic self charging down the flanks but that’s not what was required of him this time.

SCOTT BROWN

Commanding leadership in heart of the park. Barton was right in saying the skipper isn’t in his league – on this evidence Brown is far superior.

NIR BITTON

Booked in just eight minutes for trip on Windass. Played vital role breaking up Gers’ play and setting Celts on their way. Through ball for Dembele’s second was perfect.

JAMES FORREST

Started brightly charging down right flank and tested Gers backline with a couple of decent efforts. But delivery of final ball let him down at times and was replaced by Roberts in 63 minutes.

TOM ROGIC

Powerful threat bursting out of advanced midfield area, won more than his share of tackles and formed crucial link between the engine room and Dembele. Picked up a knock and had to be replaced in 54 minutes.

SCOTT SINCLAIR

Delivered the tempting corner for Dembele’s opening goal then clipped home a clinical finish for the third when the pair combined again. An impressive dynamic display from a guy who has become an instant hit since his summer signing.

MOUSSA DEMBELE

Stunning show and historic hat-trick more than made up for the loss of Leigh Griffiths. Took all three of his goals with class and composure and movement were superb.

Stuart Armstrong – replaced Rogic and did well, scoring at death, 4. Patrick Roberts – fresh impetus down right, 2. Callum McGregor – late runout for Brown. Not used: Gordon, Izaguirre, Ciftci, Gamboa.
