- Anthony Brown

Annan Ath ..... 1 Forfar ............. 2

Forfar boss Gary Bollan revealed it took a halftime dressing- down to keep his leaders on track.

The Loons looked set for for their first slip-up when Max Wright’s penalty put Annan ahead.

But Bollan’s battlers surged five points clear at the top of the league thanks to goals from

Andy Munro and Lewis Milne.

The gaffer said: “The first half was disappointing so there were a few harsh words at half-time.

“But the players stuck two fingers up at me with their second-half display.”

Berwick..................2 Elgin................4

A second-half double from sub Craig Gunn ensured Elgin leapfrogged their hosts into third place.

Shane Sutherland opened the scoring for the highlanders after 11 minutes, pouncing on a parried shot from Jamie Reid. But the midfielder was luckier with a second effort when keeper Kevin Walker spilled his shot which spun into the net for 2- 0.

Greg Hurst pulled one back for Rangers before the break but Gunn restored the two-goal cushion.

Hurst grabbed his second in 79 minutes but Gunn had the last say with an 86th-minute killer strike.

Clyde..................3 Arbroath..............2

Barry Ferguson praised his players for their resilience after going down to 10 men when Dylan Easton was carried off five minutes from time with all subs used.

Scott Linton had put Clyde in front before Josh Skelly levelled for Arbroath. Martin McNiff headed the Bully Wee in front once more but Bobby Linn equalised before half-time. Peter MacDonald’s 71st minute strike sealed the win for Clyde. Ferguson said: “There was a resilience about us today.”

Arbroath boss Dick Campbell said: “They’ll be up there at the end of the season.”

Montrose...........1 Cowdenbeath...2

Cowdenbeath boss Liam Fox hailed his players for grinding out a result after going a goal behind.

Fox said: “It wasn’t pretty to watch but we have to be prepared to do the ugly side of the game.”

Montrose opened the scoring in 43 minutes when Nicolay Todorov fouled Gary Fraser in the box and Fraser scored from the spot. Gary Glen levelled for Cowdenbeath with a diving header just before the break. Kris Renton sealed the win in the 54th minute.

Montrose boss Paul Hegarty said: “I apologise to our fans for our inept second half performance.”

Stirling................1 Edin City..............1

Ross Allum left Stirling Albion sick as his late leveller made the hosts pay for a hatful of missed chances.

City had looked comfortable in the first half but were punished in 55 minutes when Isaac Layne won a free kick just outside the area. The cross was met by captain Ross McMillan who headed home.

But just as City looked set to record their fifth league defeat in a row, Douglas Gair’s deep cross in 85 minutes found Allum and his crisp effort earned their first senior point.
