How can he marry his teen lover? We haven’t even talked about divorce yet

- Lynn McPherson

Marion Kerr said her 60-year- old husband Jim’s affair with Lisa Miller, 18, has “devastated” her family, who have since disowned him.

Miller, a former pupil at Woodfarm High, East Renfrewshire, where Kerr worked as the caretaker, made a public proposal to the ex- janny at the Scottish International Airshow in Ayr on September 2.

She was seen to wipe away tears of joy as the father of three accepted.

But Marion, 58, said: “He’s still married to me. We’re not divorced and there are no divorce proceedings under way.

“Our three daughters are devastated by what he did and won’t have anything to do with him. Nobody in the family will. I don’t want to say any more because I have them and my grandchildren to think of.”

Kerr, who worked at the school for 10 years, was sacked after the relationship came to light last March. The pair insist nothing happened between them until Miller had left the school.

A source said: “Jim only told Marion about the affair at Easter because it was all going to come out – he had lost his job and he had no choice.

“You can imagine the shockwaves that sent through the family. Lisa had even been at the house the day before he finally admitted it.

“She sa id they weren’t together and that she was having a hard time and he had just been comforting her.

“Marion had known something was wrong but had thought he might be seriously ill.

“She could never have seen this coming. She’s a calm person and is putting her life back together but his actions have caused all sorts of stress and trauma.”

Kerr was f ilmed accepting the proposal live on radio when Miller said to him: “Jim, we’ve been going out for just under a year and I love you so much. I wouldn’t swap you for the world and – marry me?”

He smiled and told her: “Yes, definitely.”

The proposal caused a storm on social media with many ex-pupils of Woodfarm speaking of their shock.

But it’s claimed Kerr is already looking for ways to back out of any permanent union with the teenager

The source added:

Marion calls him ‘the beast’. That’s how she sees him. There’s no way back

“He told the family he had no intention of marrying Lisa and only said yes because she put him on the spot.

“He may be starting to regret it. Lisa constantly phones him when he’s not with her and he will get sick if it. She’s like a little girl – very needy.

“She lives in sheltered accommodation for the homeless a few nights a week and Jim isn’t even able to visit her there as it’s for young people.”

The four-bed former family home in Motherwell has been put up for sale for offers over £219,995.

Until recently, Kerr was still spending several nights a week there.

The source added: “Their pregnant daughter Lorna and 11- year- old grandson live there with Marion but, when he moved out, he stopped paying the mortgage.

“He’s demanding his money out of the house so they’re all effectively being made homeless. “Lorna’s son was Jim’s first grandchild and was like a son to him but he’s abandoned him too. “At least this way they don’t have to put up with him turning up at the house – that was making it unbelievably awful for them. “The family just want it all to go away. They think it’s disgusting. Marion calls him ‘the beast’ now – that’s how she sees him. There’s no way back for him.” A spokesman for Kerr’s former employers BAM said: “We were informed about this in March and suspended him the same day. “The school are fully aware and were informed by email. He had worked there for 10 years. “At the time we became aware of this, the girl was over the age of consent so legally they hadn’t done anything wrong but professionally we did what we had to do. The investigation has now concluded.” When the Sunday Mail contacted the couple, they refused to comment.
