PITT IT THERE

Super Scott’s wonder winner helps Livi hit the heights

-

Scott Pittman sent Livi joint top of the table with a screamer – then insisted he’d swap spectacular goals for hard-fought wins every week.

Team-mate Danny Mullen had opened the scoring from close range in the first half but Pittman’s brilliant 20-yarder after the break turned out to be the clincher after sub Alan Trouten pulled one back for Brechin.

David Hopkins’ men are now level on points with pacesetters Al loa and Pittman’s priority is keeping them there.

He said: “I had a chat with the coaches and they’re looking for me to take chances like that. I’m just happy to be scoring. “My goal at Stranraer was good but that one has to be up there with my best.

“We’ve had to grind the result out and we know we’re going to have to do that at points in the season. It’s nice to be sitting top of the table.”

Livi grabbed a deserved lead in 34 minutes. Liam Buchanan’s shot was blocked by Graeme Smith but the keeper couldn’t hold on to it and Mullen turned in the loose ball.

Pittman rattled home his stunner in 65 minutes after Ross Caldwell lost possession before Trouten reduced the deficit with his first touch. But Livi held strong to seal the points.

Brechin boss Darren Dods said: “We looked a bit in awe of Livingston. This was a big test for us and we have to dust ourselves down and go again.”
