HIPPY TALK

Chat with boss gees up Myles to help sink United

-

Hippolyte chapped the manager’s door for crunch talks and walked out of the office Myles better.

Falkirk boss Peter Houston revealed his Man of the Match against Dundee United has profited from a heart to heart with his gaffer when he wasn’t in the starting 11 at the beginning of the season.

Tope Obadeyi (right) hauled United level after John Baird’s opener for the Bairns in a pulsating first-half before a Saturday night thriller ignited in the closing three minutes.

Hippolyte’s shot was deflected home by United stopper William Edjenguele to put the Bairns ahead before supersub Lee Miller’s towering header sealed it.

And Bairns boss Housty revealed: “Myles chapped my door when he wasn’t in the team at the start of the season and I told him the truth.

“Throughout his career he has been a two good games out of five player.

“I told him if I was going to give him a start I had to know what I was going

to get from him. He has got pace, dribbling ability, he is strong, he is good in the air and he is at Falkirk.

“Is this his level or does he want to move higher? I think he is a better level than this but he has to get to four good games out of five.

“He needs that consistency level – in the last four games he has shown he can be a matchwinner for us.”

The Arabs dominated early on, Obadeyi’s miscued shot fell to Simon Murray for a clever hooked ef for t which bounced off the crossbar.

Obadeyi was bang in the mood and taunted the home defence before crossing for Nick van der Velden who saw his shot parried by Danny Rogers with Murray slashing the rebound high over.

It seemed a matter of time before we saw a goal for United – instead it came at the other end in the 18th minute and it was a stunner. Tom Taiwo swirled over a cross and Baird ghosted in between the new United defensive partnership of Frenchman William Edjenguele and Dutch stopper Frank van der Struijk to bullet a header high into the net. United levelled as van der Velden tricked clear and drilled across goal in 33 minutes for Obadeyi to slide home his first goal in a tangerine shirt. An incredible finale followed in front of a frenzied 5,488 Saturday night crowd as sub James Craigen’s cross was turned goalwards by Hippolyte and it careered into the net off the luckless Edjenguele. Then veteran Mil ler rose superbly to bullet a Hippolyte cross high beyond Cammy Bell. United boss Ray McKinnon sighed: “The game was petering out and we were hit with two sucker punches. “I wou ld ’ ve been happy with a point.”
