Robbie it’s plain claptrap

- Gordon Waddell

Robbie Neilson vowed to fight a ban after being sent to the stand by referee John Beaton – for clapping his players.

The Hear ts boss was staggered when the whistler sent him packing 14 minutes from time on the say- so of fourth off icial Mike Roncone.

Neilson said: “I was sent to the stand for clapping. Sam Nicholson puts a good delivery in, we get a good attack at it, I clap it.

“The fourth official felt it was sarcastic at the ref for a decision and I got sent to the stand. Obviously I’m not allowed to clap.

“We’ll see where it goes. I’ll definitely appeal it. I don’t know what the ref has put in his report but from my point of view where are we going if you can’t clap?

“Not a word was said at all, no swearing, nothing.” Neilson was also adamant the Jambos didn’t get what they deserved from a game they dominated.

He said: “The performance was good but sometimes you don’t get what you deserve.

“We dominated in terms of possession and were the ones who passed the ball and created chances – but they got a chance and put it away.

“We were by far the better team but didn’t get the result. But I’d far rather we played the way we did than just bang the ball long.

“It’s about progressing the club. We won’t be negative, we don’t want to win by any means we want to play the right way.”
