TOMMY 2 ON TRIAL BY TELLY

- Gordon Waddell

St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright (right) vows he will fine Chris Kane and Graham Cummins if he finds them guilty of diving after trial by TV.

Both players were booked for

simulat ion yesterday in Saints’ 1- 0 win over Hearts.

Just last week Wright accused Jambos’ players of earning their reputation for diving by “maximising contact” and going to ground too easily. But he is prepared to give goal hero Cummins and Kane a fair hearing. Wright said: “I’m going to look at it. I’ve already seen Graham’s and there is contact.

“The referee told me there was contact but it’s for an exaggerated movement.

“I’ll look at Kano’s as well and if I think the decisions are right the players will be fined and a line will be drawn under it. It’s not something we advocate, it’s not something I advocate. I’ll review the footage and on Monday and I’ll sit down with the players and they’ll get a fair hearing.

“And I’ll make the decision whether they’re fined. That’s how we’ll deal with it because I don’t want it in the game.

“Look ing at Graham’s initially, it seems a bit harsh. He might get a sympathetic look at it from me.”

Meanwhile, Wright praised man- of- the- match Zander Clark for shutting out Hearts.

He said: “Over the last six months Zander has improved immensely. I don’t think there is a better young keeper in Scotland and he should be around the Scotland squad.”
