Status no ..but fans will get cash back

-

Status Quo fans have been promised their money back after guitarist Rick Parfitt pulled out of their latest UK and European tour.

The news sparked protests from some fans who claimed the new line-up, containing only one original band member, Francis Rossi, was little more than a tribute act.

Par f it t , 67, has been ordered to rest after suffering a near- fatal heart attack earlier this year and will miss the Last Night of the Electrics tour, due to start next month.

Guitarist Richie Malone has taken his place.

Quo were set to play the SSE Hydro in Glasgow on Tuesday, December 20.

Now their management have bowed to pressure and agreed to refund disappointed ticket-holders as a “goodwill gesture”.

Fans claim tour bosses initial ly told them they weren’t entitled to refunds because line- up changes were allowed under the terms and conditions of the ticket.

Fan Darren Davy, 43, who paid £137 for three tickets to see the band in Belfast, said: “Parfitt is 50 per cent of Status Quo and this has been advertised as their final tour.

“Now it’s going ahead without Parfitt and I don’t want to remember the band in this way.”

Quo’s manager Simon Porter said a handful of fans had requested refunds and added: “We will honour their request for a refund on this occasion purely as a gesture of goodwill and on an ex gratia basis.”
