Jim says sorry after seeing red

-

Alloa’s Jim Goodwin apologised to his team-mates after his side surrendered a two-goal lead in the wake of his sending-off.

The 34-year-old went from saint to sinner as he was ordered off for an elbow after scoring Alloa’s second goal against Stenny.

Disappointed Wasps boss Jack Ross said: “It ’s incredibly frustrating but I have no complaints over the red card. I

have spoken to Jim and he was apologetic to the group.”

Alloa took the lead after three minutes as defender Fraser Kerr’s attempted clearance spun over keeper Colin McCabe.

The Wasps doubled their lead as Goodwin (right) scored his first goal for the League One side as he slotted home from 12 yards.

The veteran then received a red four minutes later for elbowing Jamie McCormack.

Stenny struck back through Willis Furtado before on-loan Hibee Oli Shaw equalised with a volley in the dying seconds.

Boss Brown Ferguson said: “We came back when we looked down and out.”

Stranraer boss Brian Reid hailed his players for grinding out a victory against 10-man Queen’s Park.

Goals from Liam Dick and Craig Malcolm secured the points for the Blues.

The Spiders were reduce to 10 men in the second half when Darren Miller was red-carded for a poor challenge.

Reid said: “It was a good professional performance at a difficult place.”

Gutted Spiders boss Gus MacPherson said: “That’s the poorest we have been this season.”
