Mum We wanted to capture magic moment

-

so happy Karolina was able to be there. It’s a beautiful thing and I’ve chosen to work in that field too. The pictures are in an album we can show Liliana when she’s older.”

Karolina began photographing newborns two years ago and started offering birth images this year.

She said: “I am one of the first birth photographers in Scotland and specialise in capturing the most special moments in a natural, elegant and beautiful way.

“I fell in love with pictures I’d seen by an Australian photographer who did birth pictures.

“I trained for a year to specialise in birth photography. I try to stay quiet in the labour suite. This is the type of photography that you can’t organise and set up. It really is true documentary style. I love being in the corner and observing.

“I’m not a medical professional so I notice things going on around that others might not. I can see the whole picture. One of my favourite things is seeing dad and his emotions and how he supports the mum in general.”

Karolina started offering birth images after demand from clients who had already had newborn family portraits done.

She said: “Some wished they had a photographer there. People are becoming more open to the idea and the fact birth is something beautiful, they are allowed to have a good and positive experience.”
