Family’s plea over missing RAF man
The uncle of a Scots RAF serviceman who went missing on a night out more than a week ago has pleaded with him to get in touch.
Corrie McKeague, 23, has not been seen since the early hours of September 24 when he was in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.
It’s feared the Regiment gunner from Dunfermline might have been hit by a car while trying to walk the 10 miles back to his base at RAF Honington.
Police and RAF personnel were yesterday continuing a search of the area but have so far found no trace of him.
Cor r ie’s uncle Tony Wringe, a former serviceman, told Forces TV: “This is entirely out of character.
“Corrie is so connected to his family, to his brothers, to his friends and to the guys that he serves with.”
Tony said his family had been left “questioning all the different things that could have happened”.
He made a direct plea to Corrie, saying: “If it’s for any reason that you’re now AWOL, it’s a storm in a tea cup.
“We’ve all been there. We’ve all done dumb stuff in our service time but in a fortnight from now this will just be a bar story.
“So get in touch. We can chat it through, we’ll work it out and we’ll fix it – but get in touch.”
Tony added: “It’s hard to deal with the uncertainty, that’s the most difficult.”
Police said: “Officers are asking anyone who may have information to come forward.”
